High impact polystyrene HIPS is a special polystyrene copolymer with excellent strength and impact resistance.
English name high impact polystyrene
Monomer: block copolymer of styrene and rubber graft copolymerization
Natural color: High impact polystyrene is a sub-white opaque material with a matte surface, flexible and non-brittle; non-toxic and odorless.
Combustion characteristics: flammable, can continue to burn after leaving the fire, the upper end of the flame is golden yellow, it will soften and bubble when burning, no liquid drips, and emits thick black smoke and fly ash.
Because polystyrene is hard and brittle, easy to break, and not impact-resistant, rubber modification is used to solve the above problems.
The biggest advantage of HIPS is its high impact strength, which is more than 4 times higher than ABS.
HIPS has excellent electrical insulation and a relatively high surface hardness.
