What is POM granules?
POM has high strength, stiffness, good elasticity and good wear resistance. Its mechanical properties are excellent, the specific strength can reach 50.5MPa, the specific stiffness can reach 2650MPa, and the metal is very close. The mechanical properties of POM vary little with temperature, and the change of copolymerized POM is slightly greater than that of homopolymer POM. The impact strength of POM is higher than that of ABS and PC. POM is sensitive to gaps, and gaps can reduce impact strength by as much as 90%. The fatigue strength of POM is very prominent, and after the action of 10 alternating loads, the fatigue strength can reach 35MPa, while PA and PC are only 28MPa. The creep property of POM is similar to that of PA, only 2.3% at 20ºC, 21MPa and 3000h, and the effect of temperature is very small. The friction factor of POM is small, the wear resistance is good (POM>PA66>PA6>ABS>HPVC>PS>PC), the limit PV value is large, and the self-lubrication is good. When POM products are grinding, it is easy to produce scream-like noise under high load.
What are the difference between of homopolymer POM and copolymer POM ?
We call the monomer that makes up the plastic, and synthetic polymers are made of this compound (monomer) by chemical bonds to each other to form a polymer called homopolymer; Polymers polymerized by two or more monomers are called copolymers (copolymers). Polyformaldehyde resins are polymers that are interlinked between oxylene (CH2O)n-. Because the second monomer component (copolymerization component) is added to the seized steel, it is called copolymerization formaldehyde.
Due to the difference in molecular structure, homopolymer POM has higher crystallinity, melting point and mechanical strength, but poorer thermal stability; while copolymer POM has better thermal stability and processing performance, but slightly lower mechanical strength. In terms of applications, homopolymer POM is suitable for the production of high-precision, high-strength mechanical parts, such as gears, bearings, etc.; while copolymer POM is more suitable for the production of complex shapes, high dimensional stability requirements of products, such as electronic and electrical components, automotive interior parts, etc.

Extrusion molding process of POM granules :
Extrusion of POM (polyoxymethylene) is a process that involves multiple steps designed to convert POM resin into a variety of shapes and uses. The following is a detailed process flow:
Raw material preparation: Selection of a suitable POM resin and drying to remove moisture .
Extruder Preheating: The extruder sections are heated to a predetermined temperature, usually between 195-205°C, to ensure that the resin can be plasticized smoothly.
Plasticizing Extrusion: The material is heated and sheared in the extruder, gradually plasticized and pushed to the head by the extruder screw.
Head Forming: The material passes through the head to form a specific cross-section shape, such as pipe, bar, etc...
Cooling and shaping: The pipe billet is cooled and shaped by circulating cooling water through the cooling device, the distance between the die and the sizing sleeve is usually in the range of 20~80mm, and the temperature of the cooling water is controlled at about 20ºC.
Drawing and cutting: The cooled and shaped semi-finished products are sent to the cutting area through the drawing device, and cut into finished products of certain lengths according to the needs.
