PPS English name: Polyphenylenesulphide Specific gravity: 1.36 g/cm3 Molding shrinkage: 0.7% Molding temperature: 300-330ºC. It is a thermoplastic special engineering plastic with excellent comprehensive performance. Its outstanding features are high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical properties. PPS is a sulfur-containing aromatic polymer. Linear PPS becomes a thermosetting plastic after cross-linking at above 350ºC, and branched PPS is a thermoplastic plastic.

1. Excellent electrical insulation (especially high-frequency insulation), white, hard and brittle, with a metallic sound when falling to the ground, light transmittance second only to plexiglass, good coloring, water resistance and chemical stability. Excellent flame retardancy, non-flammable plastic.
2. Strength Generally, it has good rigidity, but is brittle and prone to stress cracking; it is not resistant to organic solvents such as benzene and gasoline; the long-term use temperature can reach 260 degrees; it remains stable in air or nitrogen at 400 degrees. After modification by adding glass fiber or other reinforcing materials, the impact strength, heat resistance and other mechanical properties can be greatly improved. The density increases to 1.6-1.9, and the molding shrinkage rate decreases to 0.15-0.25%. It is suitable for making heat-resistant parts, insulating parts, chemical instruments, optical instruments and other parts.
3. Good molding performance, amorphous material, low moisture absorption, but it is suitable for molding after drying.
4. The fluidity is between ABS and PC. It solidifies quickly, shrinks little, and is easy to decompose. Its application range is generally used to manufacture PPS pipes, PPS sheets and other materials, and is mostly used in construction and home furnishing.

Application

 

(1) Automobile industry: PPS is used in the automobile industry, accounting for about 45%, mainly in automobile functional parts, igniters, heaters, thermostats, lamp holders, bearings; for example, it can replace metal to make exhaust pipe circulation valves and water pump impellers, pneumatic signal regulators, etc.
(2) Mechanical industry: used for housings, structural parts, wear-resistant parts and sealing materials, including pump bodies, valves, bearings, bearing brackets, piston rings and gears.
(3) Textile fibers: used for special industrial dust removal equipment.
(4) Film/insulating paper: used for motor insulation materials.
