What is  HDPE pellets?

HDPE is an opaque white waxy material, lighter than water, specific gravity of 0.941 ~ 0.960, soft and tough, but slightly harder than LDPE, also slightly elongated, non-toxic, odorless. It is catalyzed by Ziegler's catalyst, the product of polymerization under low-pressure conditions, so high-density polyethylene is also known as low-pressure polyethylene.

The unique properties of the various grades of HDPE are the appropriate combination of four basic variables: density, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution and additives. Different catalysts are used to produce customized polymers with specific properties. The combination of these variables produces HDPE grades for different applications; an optimal balance of properties.

Advantages of HDPE pellets

1, HDPE has excellent resistance to most household and industrial chemicals, it is resistant to strong oxidizing agents, acids, alkalis and salts, as well as the corrosion and dissolution of organic solvents.

2, HDPE does not absorb moisture and has good waterproof vapor, can be used for moisture-proof seepage or packaging.

3, HDPE has very good electrical properties, especially high dielectric strength, making it very suitable for wire and cable. Medium to high molecular weight grades have excellent impact resistance, even at room temperature and even at low temperatures of -40F.

4, HDPE has good processability and heat sealability.

5, HDPE has a high degree of paper-like, stiffness and openness, the hardness of LDPE film for 4 ~ 5 times. Its surface hardness, tensile strength, rigidity and other mechanical strength close to PP, tougher than PP.

6, HDPE is non-toxic and odorless, can also be used for food, clothing, knitwear and other packaging materials, affordable and inexpensive.

Disadvantages of HDPE pellets

1, its aging resistance and environmental stress cracking is not as good as LDPE, especially thermal oxidation will reduce its performance, so high-density polyethylene in the plastic coil made of antioxidants and ultraviolet absorbers added to improve its shortcomings.

2, HDPE transparency is small, poor barrier to oxygen and other gases.

3, difficult to print, printing, the need for surface discharge treatment, can not be plated, the surface has no luster.

What are the uses of HDPE pellets ? 

HDPE is suitable for various molding processes of thermoplastic molding processing, with good molding processability, such as injection molding, extrusion molding, blow molding, rotational molding, coating, foaming process, thermoforming, heat sealing and welding, heat welding and so on. Its products are mainly used for:

1, Injection molded products: there are crates, bottle caps, barrels, caps, food containers, plates, garbage cans, boxes, and plastic flowers.

2, Blow molded products: hollow molding products, such as a variety of series of blow molded barrels, containers, bottles, holding detergents, chemicals, cosmetics, etc., gasoline tanks, daily necessities. There are also blown film products such as food packaging bags, grocery shopping bags, fertilizer lining film.

3, Extruded plastic products: pipes, fittings are mainly used in gas transportation, public water and chemical transportation, such as building materials, drainage pipes, gas pipes, hot water pipes, etc.; sheet is mainly used for seats, suitcases, handling containers and so on.

4,Rotational molding: injection molded products such as large containers, storage tanks, barrels, boxes and so on.
