The scientific name of PA12 is polylaurolactam, also known as nylon 12. The basic raw material of its polymerization is butadiene, which can be relied on petrochemicals. It is a semi-crystalline-crystalline thermoplastic material. Its properties are similar to those of PA11, but the crystal structure is different. PA12 is a good electrical insulator and, like other polyamides, its insulation properties are not affected by moisture. It has good impact resistance and mechanical chemical stability. PA12 has many improved varieties in terms of plasticization and reinforcement properties.
Advantages
1. High mechanical strength, good toughness, high tensile and compressive strength. Strong absorption capacity for impact, stress and vibration.
2. Outstanding fatigue resistance, the parts can still maintain the original mechanical strength after repeated bending.
3. High softening point, heat resistance
4. Smooth surface, small friction coefficient, wear resistance.
5. Corrosion resistance, very alkali and most salt solutions, also resistant to weak acids, engine oil, gasoline, aromatic compounds and general solvents.
6. Self-extinguishing, non-toxic, odorless, good weather resistance, inert to biological erosion, good antibacterial and anti-mildew ability.
7. Excellent electrical properties.
8. The parts are light in weight, easy to dye and easy to shape.
